Week one
This week, I completed my SWOT analysis for my FMP ideas, which helped me determine the opportunities and threats of my idea. I bullet pointed some ways I could show how times passing by in my music video, as I was struggling to find ways to show it. I got feedback from 3 people, giving me the strengths and weaknesses of my idea. I then wrote my own comments on what I need to improve on and what I’ve done well at. The final thing I have completed this week is my research plan, explaining the ways i am going to research and what I am hoping to find out from the research I undertake. (31/03/17)
Week two
This week I chose to complete some of my research early to allow more time for filming. I have created my survey early too as it allows more time for people to respond. The final thing i completed was my secondary research about the band and the bands social media. This secondary research was helpful as it helped me determine what age group I should be creating my music video for. (09/04/17)
Week three
This week I completed the technical research, finding out ways to achieve certain parts of my music video. For example is finding out ways to show messages without it being on a phone screen, as cameras don’t pick up phone screens very clearly. This research was useful to me as I now have the knowledge to use after effects. (16/04/17)
Week four
This week I realised that I wasn’t getting enough responses for my survey to be useful, I therefore conducted some more in depth research about the band and reviews on their albums. This research wasn’t too useful to me as most of the research I found, I already knew. However I did find some research about the fans of the genre Alternative rock/Pop punk. This helped me decide what my actors could wear and what social media I could use in my music video. (23/04/17)
Week five
This week I have completed contextual research on my three music videos. This has helped me as i now understand the types of things to include in my music video. I have conducted a focus group to understand what people like about my idea and what they think I should improve on. This has helped me develop and change my idea further. I have now completed all my research. (30/04/17)
Week six
This week I have completed the majority of my pre-production paperwork, including, Location release forms, risk assessments, location reccys, props list, equipment list, production schedules and consent forms. This has helped me organise my music video and I now know when I can film and when I can’t film. Another thing I have completed this week, is test shots for blood, using paint and food colouring. I now know paint sinks and isn’t a good representation of blood, however food colouring is. (07/05/17)
Week seven
This week I filmed parts of my music video. I filmed the lip syncing shots at Exmouth on Monday, however the sun overexposed the scenes to much. I therefor filmed again at Exmouth on Wednesday and found those shots came out better. I have also filmed a few scenes in the garage. I have finished all pre-production documents and uploaded them to my blog. I have started editing bits of my music video together. and have completed one hate message scene in after effects. This was very time consuming as creating these message boxes from scratch is very hard to do. (14/05/17)
Week eight
This week I have completed most of my filming for my music video. I still have bits at the forest to complete and some scenes in the garage. The bathroom scenes were quite tricky to do, as every time I got it wrong I had to empty the bath and completely refill it again. Although this was very time consuming, the time paid off as the shots came out very well. (21/05/17)
Week nine
This week I have completed all filming and all editing and have submitted my final music video. I was easily able to meet the deadline even though I couldn’t film a lot due to bad weather. I have also gone through my blog and updated all the pre production and made sure everything was on there. (28/05/17)
Week ten
This week I have filled out my shot log. I have evaluated my music video and have gone through my blog and filled in any gaps. I have also gotten feedback on my music video to add into my evaluation and I have now been signed off from my FMP. (11/06/17)
